I work hard to have a positive mindset every day. But sometimes it’s just not enough and the stress ends up getting the better of me. With running my business, planning my wedding, and moving, I’ve been overwhelmed and stressed as of late.

Even though my life is stressful right now, it’s a great opportunity to talk about how to effectively manage stress when you’re running your own business.

In today’s episode, I’ll review four tips for managing your stress. Some are mental, some are physical, and all of them are important. If you’ve ever dealt with stress, this is the episode for you.

“A lot of times managing stress starts with having a foundational practice or foundational principles that you can go back to easily.”

In this episode Avani talks about:

  • What stress actually is and how it affects our bodies.
  • Strategies for mentally dealing with stress.
  • What you can do physically to combat stressful periods and bring them into check.

1. Meditate

Meditate every day, even if it’s just for a minute or two. It’s a great way to center yourself and remember that there is beauty in being still, and that there are good things to be thankful for.

2. Look at the big picture

If you’re not a heart surgeon (or something similar), your average day doesn’t mean life or death for someone. There’s something comforting in remembering that what you do probably won’t affect the outcome of the world that much. Keep things in perspective!

3. Breathe and align your mind and body

Take four deep breaths while counting in your head at the same time. It’s a great way to realign your body and mind it’s also a great strategy for when you’re actively feeling stressed. It’s very anchoring and comforting.

4. Do something for you

Whether it’s a hobby or a sport or an artistic expression, make sure you’re doing something that you want to do at least once a week. It’s important to make sure that you’re taking care of your desires as well as other people’s, otherwise you just keep building stress.
