This is going to be a bit of a niche episode. As many of you know, I’m getting married soon, and all of the planning that needs to happen around this wedding can get to be a little much at times.

I know I’m not the only entrepreneur out there planning a wedding (or planning one in the near future). Today we’ll explore how to get all of the planning done while running your business and staying sane at the same time.

If you’re walking down the aisle soon, the tips in this episode might just make your big day a little easier.

“The reason we get overwhelmed with tasks is because we don’t see clarity. We don’t see when it’s all going to get done. Having a project management system is essential.”

In this episode Avani talks about:

  • How she manages all of her due dates and tasks for the wedding.
  • Her strategies around time management for wedding-related tasks.
  • How she relies on herself and people she trusts to get everything done.

1. Treat planning like a client or job

It will be difficult for you to remember all the things you have to do before a wedding, so a great strategy is to treat it like a job. Get a task management tool and write down all your tasks with due dates. That will help you stay on top of everything that needs to happen.

2. Prioritize

Certain aspects of your wedding might not need as much attention as others. Figure out what you need to do and what you can delegate to other people (like your fiancé) to take care of. This way the important parts of your wedding will turn out the way you want.

3. Theme your days

This is a trick I pulled over from my business. Block time (days or hours) to dedicate to wedding planning. This way you’re not throwing it in-between your business tasks, but instead putting yourself in a zone of working on wedding things.

4. Ask for help

It’s okay to ask for help, especially if you’re running a business and trying to plan for a wedding. Find the people that you can trust to help you plan and see if they would be willing to take a couple of tasks off your plate.

5. Take care of yourself

Make sure that you are taking care of you. A great way is to let little things slide and focus on behavior that is rewarding, such as eating healthy and exercising.
